Bangladeshis Evacuated from Sudan to Saudi Arabia Amidst Ongoing Clashes

A group of 135 Bangladeshi citizens, including women, children, and elderly individuals, have been evacuated from Port Sudan to Jeddah by a Saudi Arabian military aircraft. The information was confirmed by Bangladesh's acting ambassador to Sudan, Tareq Ahmed. The plane is expected to arrive at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah after taking off from Port Sudan shortly. The Bangladeshis were previously transported to Port Sudan from Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, which has been beset by violence between the army and paramilitary forces since mid-April. The clashes have claimed the lives of over 400 people, including civilians, UN employees, and an assistant defense adviser from Egypt. There are around 1500 Bangladeshis living in Sudan, with approximately 700 of them expressing interest in returning home. The situation in Sudan remains volatile and has sparked concern from various countries around the world.
